Dozens of Americans die as 9 U.S military tanks blown apart by blasts in Marjah

HELMAND, Feb. 22 - As many as nine U.S tanks got hit separately by landmine blasts in Marjah, Nad Ali district of Helmand, on Sunday.

According to the details, seven of the U.S tanks were destroyed in bombings, three of which were targeted by bomb attacks in Sistani located in the outskirt of Marjah, while another 4 tanks were torn apart by blasts in Dasht (desert) area in the outskirt of Marjah.

Meantime, two of the U.S tanks were struck by roadside bombings in Kariz Sadi area of Marjah while the American soldiers were trying to make their way further into Marjah.

The report indicates almost all the U.S soldiers were killed and in the bombings that had targeted their seven 9 tanks which had been left wrecked.

In another incident, in the evening hours of Sunday, a blast tore through a group of U.S soldiers while on foot patrol in the desert between Sistani and Camp areas in the outskirt of Marjah.

About two U.S soldiers were killed and three injured in the incident.

However, these fatalities and losses came after Gen. David Patreaus, who oversees U.S. troops in Afghanistan, had warned the U.S troops of deadlier fatalities and more sever losses against Mujahideen's stronger resistance in the area.
