Taliban speeds up attacks against foreign troops on New Year's eve

KABUL, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- As the world and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) are preparing to celebrate the new year of 2010, Taliban insurgents have intensified attacks on the troops.

The militias in the latest wave of violent attacks carried out double deadly bombings in the southern Kandahar and eastern Khost province Wednesday killing over a dozen American and Canadian service members.

In the first attack against NATO-led forces in Kandahar province, according to a statement released by the military alliance, five Canadians including a journalist were killed.

"Four ISAF soldiers from Canada and one Canadian reporter were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strike in Kandahar province on Dec. 30," the statement noted.

"We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss of life," ISAF spokesman Jane Campbell said in another statement.

More than 2,800 Canadian troops have been stationed in Afghanistan within the framework of NATO-led ISAF troops to help strengthen security in the post-Taliban nation.

Canada, where the public support for war in Afghanistan is sliding down, has reportedly lost 138 service members in war-torn Afghanistan since it started deploying troops there in 2002.

The second deadly attack occurred in the eastern Khost province Wednesday left eight Americans dead.

All those killed in the bloody blast were intelligence personnel affiliated with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) or contractors, according to media reports.

Penetration into intelligence base and blasting it speak of militants' ability in conducting organized attacks, some local analysts said.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in talks to media via cellular phone from undisclosed locations claimed for responsibility of the Khost attack, detailing that a militant wearing Afghan army uniform moved inside the base and blew himself up killing some 20 service members.

Taliban, in a statement released Thursday to media from an unknown location, vowed to further intensify their attacks against international troops in Afghanistan.

In the statement released in broken English, the militants expressed satisfaction over what it described successful attacks against foreign forces and vowed to speed up their activities in the new year of 2010, which begins on Friday.

"The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan would in the year 2010 force all the foreign occupation forces and the arrogant and hostile White House rulers to withdraw from Afghanistan as quickly as possible," the statement said.

Remarks of Z. Mujahid, Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Regarding the Invaders Recent Brutalities

Afghan resistance statement
Remarks of Z. Mujahid, Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Regarding the Invaders Recent Brutalities
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

December 17, 2009

The public of the world, particularly, our country men know that the invading forces usually detain miserable Afghans under various pretexts and then mercilessly torture them. These atrocities have been continuing at the hand of the invaders for the past eight years. Besides these, there are other savageries being committed by the invading forces. Even mass murder has been committed by the cut- throat troops. But the so-called advocates of the human rights and the international community have always turned a blind eye to all these crimes. They have never put out a protest nor issued any word of condemnation, despite that the atrocities have been continuing unabatedly. Here, we present our readers with facts about the following gruesome events:

On October 22, foreign invaders killed two Afghan prisoners and put their dead bodies near Kikorak Shrine in Sabari district. Earlier, the brutal invaders had arrested them in Sara Bagh during a night raid on their houses. One week before this gruesome incident, foreign invaders in Khost, had detained Haji Badshah Khan, a resident of Bak district. They killed him pointblank and put his dead body in a dried river bed near Sara Bagh Bus stop. He had been mercilessly tortured to death by the callous foreign troops. A few days ago, the cut-throat invading forces, detained Nadeem, resident of Ali Sher district and Noor Wazir, resident of Moli area of Sabari district. They were on their way home, riding on motor cycles after doing shopping in Khost Bazaar. The invading American troops signaled them to stop and arrested them forthwith. Then, the brutal soldiers killed them at Khana Kandaw during the night and left their corpses there. They had been tied up with shackles and ropes usually used by American and foreign soldiers. American trained dogs had devoured flesh of their bodies. In Laghman, Kunduz, Zabul and Ghazni provinces, similar brutalities have taken place.

In our view, the cunning and coward enemy suffers material and soul losses every day. They lose dozens of military tanks as a result of face-to-face battles with Mujahideen. Therefore, they vent their revenge on innocent people, to create rift and hatred between Mujahideen and the common people intentionally. But it should be made clear to them, if the enemy resorts to such horrendous actions in order to weaken the morale of the people, so that they would withdraw their support from the Mujahideen, they are wrong. Their inhuman actions will only give rise to creating sensitivities against the invaders and they will face a shameful defeat with the passage of time.

The Afghans have never subjugated by foreign invaders throughout the history nor have they accepted existence of foreign invaders on their soil. They have always struggled in the way of freedom and succeeded, in the long run, in liberating not only their land but lands of other occupied people thanks to their self-less sacrifices.

The people of Khost and human rights entities themselves witnessed the dead bodies of these miserable Afghans. We call on all human right organizations not to remain silent over the massacre of common people any more and conduct a neutral investigation about the killings and live up to the expectation for what they have been established to begin with.

American War Strategy in the Words of Brown

Afghan resistance statement
American War Strategy in the Words of Brown
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

December 17, 2009

The other day, British Premier Brown showed up in south Kandahar out of a sudden in a press conference. He told the participants that Britain supported America’s new strategy because it was aimed at weakening the Taliban. He said, the current resistance in Afghanistan would spiral down during the next 18 moths and the Kabul Administration would take over the charge of security in the country.

With surrogate Karzai, the Head of puppet regime in Kabul standing beside him, Mr. Brown opined about his pipe dream and puppet Karzai was moving his head in the affirmative all along. However, both of them brazenly and shamelessly ignored the fact that they went all-out, using war stratagems, tactics and brutalities in the past eight years but availed them nothing. Now what is there being left of the tactics, ploys and bestialities that could be used in the coming 18 months which will give them the victory.

One may ask Mr. Brown, you were not able to bring about stability to just one province of Afghanistan (Helmand) out of 31 provinces of the country during the past few years despite your using all political and economic power? Have you weakened and slowed down the waves of Jihad and patriotism in the province? Has Britain been able in the past years through her use of its latest military technology and presence of ten thousand of soldiers to ensure complete control over a vast swath of land except a few districts?

Has Britain not designed a dummy Helmand at the cost of 80 million to train and familiarize her soldiers with the land of Helmand-- the soil of the patriotic and honor-loving men? A few months ago, nine thousands British soldiers, joined by the same number of American and surrogate Afghan troops, saw the bitter results of their military operations named Sword and the Panther’s claw. They used all their military capability in almost half area of Helmand province, but instead, they got caskets of their troops. They had no achievement except that. Now after the flurry of these devilish machinations that you used in the past what tactics are there left for Brown to talk about, hoping that they would be able to achieve a decisive victory in the coming 18 months?

We believe policies, strategies and roadmaps of the invaders are not acceptable to the Afghan people and to the public of the world. Announcing new strategies, the rulers of the invading countries want to put a clout on their fiasco and disgrace. Some time they announce new strategy; some times pledge to wipe out grafts in the surrogate administration; some time, they give good news of holding conference on Afghanistan in London, Paris, German and other places. Similarly, these callous and cunning politicians make unannounced trips to Afghanistan. The goal behind all these endeavors and shuttle diplomacy is to show to the world that they are still focused on Afghanistan.

But Brown should understand that in the last eight years, the Afghans have tested all strategies, slogans and sympathies of the West and America. A few days ago, dozens of civilians were killed as a result of blind bombardment of American aircrafts in Laghman province. According to another report, the brutal Americans have let loose their trained dogs to bite people during house raids in Khost, Paktika, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni and Kandahar. Later, the miserable Afghans were killed by the cut throat invaders. The Afghan freshly remember these horrendous incidents which ironically display the actual mercy and sympathy of the Americans with the Afghan people. Aptly, the Afghans know how to respond.

Statement of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan concerning thirtieth anniversary of Red Army invasion

December. 27, 1979, a time when the former Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in violation of all international laws, a move that brought the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic(USSR) to its knee.

The Red Army executed Hafizullah Amin, a pawn, in order to replace him with a more loyal pawn, Babrak Karmal.

With the time going by, the Soviet Union troops steadily increased from 80000 to 140000.

At the beginning of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, the (KGB), secret intelligence agency of the Red Army assured the Soviet rulers of the takeover and total control of Afghanistan within the period of three months, for they had been under impression that the Mujahideen were with no status and position in Afghanistan and had no favorability among the Afghans and that they were merely encouraged by foreign enticement and efforts.

Three months later, upon meeting with strong resistance from Mujahideen and with their Islamic movement strengthening, the Red Army generals suggested a later date, that is, they would take complete control of Afghanistan and bring the country under their domination within one to three years.

But with the passage of ten years, the Red Army dream of occupation of Afghanistan and taking full control of the country still did not come true.

According to one of the surveys of the Soviet Union, the death rate of the Russians killed in Afghanistan reached thirteen to fourteen thousands, where as the other sources showed the death rate far more than the one expressed in the Soviet survey.

The Russian invading troops withdrawal, eventually, came as the Red Army was brought to its knee over the 10 years of their occupation in Afghanistan with Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) empire shattering and the ideology of communism being made fun of in old Moscow Kremlin.

By making sacrifice of 1.5 million Shuhada (martyrs), the Afghan brave Mujahid nation did not only drive the Red Army out of Afghanistan but also liberated several Asian and European countries from the Russian domination and colonialism; which the world, morally, owes it to Afghan brave Mujahid nation that, in the from of sacrifices and waging Jihad, caused the collapse of the truculent communist power.

Contrarily, the silly Americans backed by their allied crusaders, rather than being grateful to the suffered war-stricken Afghans and returning their favor, invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of fighting terrorism, in consultation with a couple of ungrateful so-called Afghans and believing their enticements and false promises.

The American invaders, too like the former Soviet Union, claimed to wipe out the terrorism in three months time.

Deceived by lies and false advice of their Afghan agents, the U.S.forces assured the Pentagon and White house rulers of the Taliban Islamic movement having no favorability among the Afghans, once crushed, the Taliban would be no longer in position make a comeback.

On the contrary, the members of the Islamic movement of Taliban and pro-Islamic movement people are Afghans, the real sons of this nation, the power that has grown up in the environment and milieu of this soil.

Over the past 8 years, the U.S. forces have been unable to wipe out the civil Jihadic power in spite of their exercising any form of barbarism, aggression, torture and imprisonment.

Moreover, the U.S. forces chief, general Mc Chrystal, with all the military power and assistance from coalition forces at their disposal, warned the Pentagon rulers of their failure in Afghanistan.

President Obama, under the pressure of pro-war generals of Pentagon, ordered 30000 extra troops deployment into Afghanistan.

One the other hand, the British lieutenant general Nick Parker now say, "We have lost every kind initiatives against Taliban who with each day passing expends their territory."

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan warns the American rulers and their allies, based on these facts, of U.S forces and allies quick withdrawal before the America faces the same fate befell the Soviet Union and being disintegrated itself.

Now that the U.S., despite having about 100000 troops in Afghanistan, has been unable to win the war against Afghan Mujahideen over the last 8 years, it is unlikely that the America will win the war and maintain their occupation in Afghanistan even if it deploys extra 30000 troops whose soldiers have already lost morale.

Therefore, it is the most sensible thing to leave Afghanistan to Afghans as it is the real home of Afghans who have witnessed the U.S. real democracy and the nature of their false slogans.

Furthermore, we consider it important to remind the America to stop depriving the Afghans of their natural and legal rights by making false slogans and promises tested by Afghans.

If the America is still bent on violation of the legal and human rights and values of the Afghans it should, then, get prepared for the collapse of their crusader empire and disintegration of the united state of America.

Puppet Regime Foreign Ministry Spokesman Complains of the Invaders Arrogance

Puppet Regime Foreign Ministry Spokesman Complains of the Invaders Arrogance.
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

December 14, 2009

According to www.afghanpaper.com, officials of foreign countries enter Afghanistan without giving prior information to the Foreign Ministry of the puppet regime in Kabul. Ahmad Zahir Faqiri, Foreign Ministry Spokesman says, foreigners violate all diplomatic and international norms and principles by not observing the laws of Afghanistan. He says, many of these high-ranking of foreign countries enter Afghanistan and visit their military bases without the knowledge of the central government in Kabul.

British Defense Ministry came to Kabul after visiting British troops in Helmand province while German foreign minister is still in Kunduz province, calling on German troops in the province. He is said to be discussing issue of compensation for the 142 victims of the American blind bombardment on September 4, this year which was requested by a German commander. The civilian causalities brought great infamy to the German government and some high-ranking officials resigned as a result.

According to the report of an investigation team constituted by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Americans had used phosphorus in the attack which had burnt to ashes the miserable Afghans villagers.

Taliban bring order, say Afghans

The Australian

December 13, 2009

Taliban insurgents in Kabul are nailing night letters to the front doors of police, soldiers and government officials, warning them to leave their jobs or face punishment.

The militants are being welcomed in the Afghan capital's poorer areas by people who are angry over corruption and give them food, cash and weapons.

Safe houses and bomb-making workshops have begun to appear in poor districts close to the city center as the militants increase their presence and plot attacks on prominent targets.

"They know who we are, where we live and what we do," said Ehsan Anwari, who used to work as an Afghan army medico and now runs a clinic in Company district, where Highway One, the main road from Kandahar, enters the capital.

"Whenever we hear shooting, we think the Taliban are taking over the district," Dr Anwari said. "We are afraid."

Described by one police officer as a den of vice, Company district is a maze of tightly packed single-storey houses and muddy narrow streets.

The Taliban tried last month to blow up the house of Dr Anwari's brother, a police officer, after pouring petrol through his front gate.

The policeman grabbed his gun and opened fire. His attackers fled, but he found mortar rounds, explosives and ammunition by the gate.

"We reported it but the police are too afraid to come into these streets at night because of the Taliban," Dr Anwari said.

Earlier this year, the Taliban assassinated two army colonels as they walked through Company district. After the killings, many government officials left the area in fear of their lives.

Local people said they supported the Taliban because the police never tackled the criminal gangs smuggling drugs, running prostitutes and kidnapping local businessmen.

In Wardak, a Taliban-controlled province south of the capital, the insurgents last month seized four men involved in kidnapping the son of a wealthy Kabul tea merchant.

The kidnappers told their victim to pretend he was their nephew if they met anyone on the way to their safe house in a remote area. But Taliban soldiers at a checkpoint noticed his expensive shoes, jeans and leather jacket, and arrested the gang.

Four bodies were then left swinging from a tree in Maidan Shah, the provincial capital. A note pinned to one read: "The same fate awaits others who choose to kidnap for a living."

The Taliban caught the kidnappers, tortured them and executed them in public. The tea merchant donated $US200,000 ($219,000) to the Taliban as a gift for his son's release.

The story quickly spread through the districts around Highway One.

"It proves the Taliban have no problem with ordinary Afghans - they only have a problem with those Afghans who work in high government positions, who run crime in this city," said Karimullah, 40, who owns a shop selling flour, oil and rice.

As he spoke, two officials from the Kabul municipality pulled up in Toyota Land Cruisers. Karimullah watched with contempt as they entered the shops and took money from the owners. "You see," he shouted. "They take our money and don't give a receipt. It's not tax, it's for their pockets."

Obama's Repeated Strategy Will Bring in Infamy for America

Afghan resistance statement
Obama’s Repeated Strategy Will Bring in Infamy for America
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

Monday, 07 December 2009

Negative response by American Allies and Coalition countries to send more troops to Afghanistan, forced Obama to take up the burden himself.

It is because a growing number of America’s Allies now believe the Afghan issue has no military solution.

Naming it a new strategy for Afghanistan, Obama is now trying to make it a success. It is his moribund attempt to fix the situation and put a clout on the sagging morale that their troops are suffering from and cover up the ground realities in Afghanistan for some time.

In less than one year that Obama has assumed the helms of affair, he was compelled to frame a new strategy for Afghanistan once again. Their bragging aside, the ground realities in Afghanistan speak otherwise. They have no control over the rural areas which, in our view, this tantamounts to America’s failure and fiasco in this ancient land of the Afghans. Rationally, he should not have repeated his already failed strategy by resorting to troops surge in Afghanistan. Rather, it would have been in the benefit of Washington if they had taken their decision in the light of the realities on ground .

Though, in his speech, while announcing the strategy, Obama admitted that they are not able to bear the burden of the war, and that wars expenditures in Afghanistan and Iraq had exceeded one trillion dollars; he also announced that American troops will start withdrawing from Afghanistan after 18 months. But still, the troops surge in itself is a sign of enmity of America and Obama with the people of Afghanistan.

The public of the world know that Obama and America got only caskets as consequence of their previous strategy for Afghanistan, particularly, during the past six months, not a day has passed in the past months, without death of dozens of invading soldiers. Documentary commentaries and analysis by media reveal that the past six months were some of the gruesome and sanguinary days for the Americans, Britains and their Allies. During this period, the forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan gained more strength and expanded control over vast swathe of land in the country.

Obama wants to continue his already failed strategy in a new shape and manner by sending 30, 0000 troops to Afghanistan. Some Allies of America agree with the Afghan people that the domineering arrogance of America must break into smithereens in Afghanistan. The unipolar mastership of America should be buried up in Afghanistan-- the graveyard of empires.

Therefore, America should re-ponder over the fate of former Soviet Union which had sent more troops to Afghanistan than the Americans have sent to the country. Their followers and surrogates were more in number and war-hardened than the America’s but Afghanistan has always proved to be a graveyard of the world’s invaders and colonialists. America should wait this crucial time for similar fate in the country. History always favored this people with the honor of laying the cornerstone of disintegration and fall of empires.

It is clear that Obama and his team want to intensify the war in Afghanistan and achieve their expansions goals in the region through the use of force. However, they should ponder over their atrocities and savageries in the past eight years and what they obtained as a result except that they gave rise to wrath and resentments of the Afghans and created growing sensitivities against the invading forces.

The Afghans are war-hardened people and are on guard against the machinations of the enemy. They have preparations for a good fight with the enemy in every part of the country. We believe that with the help of God (SwT), the new strategy of Obama will face failure and fiasco like the previous one. Not only that. It will accompany great military and historical loss for the Americans. Inshallah.

Taliban kill 7 policemen in S Afghanistan

KABUL, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants killed seven policemen in the militancy-hit Helmand province in south Afghanistan early Monday, spokesman for provincial administration Daud Ahmadi said.

"Three Taliban men influenced a police checkpoint outside provincial capital Lashkar Gah opened fire on policemen inside the checkpoint at 03:30 a.m. local time killing seven on the spot and made their good escape with 10 AK-47 and a police vehicle," Ahmadi told Xinhua.

He also added that police later on launched a siege and search operation and so far arrested two of the culprits while the third one reached to Taliban base in the mountains around.

This is the second attack on police checkpoint over the past 24hours in Afghanistan.

The previous attack against police checkpoint in the northern Baghlan province also left seven police constables dead late Sunday night.

Cobra's Anger Will Lead to Great Regrets

Thursday, 10 December 2009

Last week, the invading and brutal foreign armies stationed in Helmand, launched vast operations in Nawzad district and a few other areas of the province. Since then, they have been prosecuting, torturing and harassing common people of this land of the Mujahideen (Helmand) under operations christened Cobra’s Anger. Still, according to recent reports from the province, the invaders have not gained any remarkable success, nor they have been able to destroy any stronghold of the Mujahideen as yet. Similarly, the foreign forces have not taken any area of vital importance to Mujahideen militarily. So far, they have been roaming in empty deserts. Despite that, they constantly claim of having captured kilometers of areas from the Opposition.

It is an immovable fact that the Mujahideen of Helmand province like Mujahideen of other areas of the country have given exemplary lessons to the brutal forces of the invaders during the past eight years particularly during the past six months that they should expectedly not have dared to throw down the gauntlet again or in other word to test the pious people of this land once more. But the moribund foreign forces want to show some achievements at the field because they are facing humiliation and taunt from their public and from rival countries of the West. They ask them why you are losing the ground in face of a small country, being under- armed and ill-equipped people-- still more your cutting-edge technology have been failed to hit the mark. They are now confused and unfortunately, not able to ponder over the results of their previous military operations.

Rationally, in the light of the ground realities, they should have reached the conclusion that their next operations will bring in nothing except failure and that ultimately, they will not be able to avoid their historical defeat or could not at least superficially save their face.

One can draw from their naming of Cobra’s Anger that the enemy has lost its hope of victory and is waiting for the day of retreat and route. Therefore, they are taking it on the miserable and defenseless common Afghans to present it to their people as a military victory. Thus they can tell people back home that though we lost thousands of soldiers in Helmand province-- the land of Mujahideen--but we also killed their people including children and women.

In our view, the operations now going in Helmand is a mistake which has already been repeated. All their ploys and war stratagems are doomed to failure and lacks to achieve any objective. In general, their military strategies are not practicable.

The barbarism and brutalities perpetrated by the invaders during the past eight years did not give them any victory nor did they achieve any tangible result. It is now for the generals and rulers of America and Britain not to push their soldiers into the mouth of death for realization of strategies that have already been tested and failed, nor they should shed the blood of the oppressed and miserable Afghans in order to conceal their eventual defeat. Still if they are bent on continuing their brutalities and want to vent their anger on the people, they will inevitably have great regrets.

Obama, following Bush Steps

Afghan Resistance Statement
Obama, following Bush Steps
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

Tuesday, 08 December 2009

This year, the Nobel Prize Committee in Sweden awarded Peace Prize to Obama while his being in the White House less than ten days before the nomination deadline.

Ironically, the committee chose him among 205 candidates to win the prize- still less not for any concrete accomplishments but for his inspirational words. It is pity that he will now receive the prize after announcement of troops surge for Afghanistan.

This year, USA launched vast military operations in Helmand in South Afghanistan. Ten thousand American troops and almost the same number of British troops participated in the operations named Sword and Panther’s claws. They killed hundreds of innocent Afghans during the most trumpeted operations, the largest ever after the Vietnam war.

As for the Afghans, they did not expect Obama, a Nobel peace prize winner, to flare up the war in the country. Nor the Alfred Nobel would ever have agreed to give peace prize to a person who is fanning flames of war rather than spreading fraternity and peace. But despite his warmongering approach, Obama did not achieve his declared goal of wiping out the Mujahideen in Helmand or realizing the take, hold and build strategy. Contrarily, the American troops fatalities were the highest in June, July and August this year comparing to the same period last year-- the months when the operations were in full swing in Helmand.

According to a recent report from Mujahideen in Helmand province and posted at this site, the enemy has only been able to keep the districts which were earlier in their hands in north Helmand. In the south, the writ of Mujahideen was restored in Khanshin, Marji and Garam Sir districts while the enemy could build only a single military base in a desert there—the only spectacular achievement of the operations. But they are not able to procure their logistics through lands routes. They have to provide logistics by air transportations. In Nad Ali, the invading troops were forced to evacuate the base, which they had formed at the start of the offensive. In Garam Sir, they are trying to beef up their former bases. No new base has been added there.

The British soldiers occupied some areas in Babaji, Pashak and the White Mosque but they were not able to retain them for a longer period in face of the constant attacks by the Mujahideen.

When their tanks and logistical vehicles come out of their military bases for patrol and logistical supplies, they become soft targets for Mujahideen. On the other hand, the roadside bombs take a high toll of the enemy, turning them into a graveyard for the invaders. Therefore, they use transportation planes for the supply of logistics instead of using the land routes. Thus they are almost besieged in their military garrisons.

According to a recent statistics, one gallon oil costs the invading troops $ 400 and annual expenditure of one soldier is almost one million US dollar. They have to pay $ 30 billion more per year for the troops surge recently announced by Obama.

But far from receiving a lesson from the failure of their military operations in June this year, the Americans launched another operation this week. It seems, the peace prize winner Obama is trying to implement the expansionist policy left to him as a legacy by W. Bush.

The aim of the Mujahideen is to have a free and independent country and Islamic government which represents the aspirations of the Afghan people. These are natural rights of people which has nothing to do with terrorism. But the so-called advocates of democracy and human rights are not ready to give these natural rights to the Afghans and to the Mujahideen. They are bent on maintaining their bases in Afghanistan like they have been maintaining them in Japan, South Korea, Germany etc. There are now hundreds of military bases in Afghanistan built under the notorious name of so-called war on terror. Every one knows that these bases are built in Afghanistan for the achievement of colonialist goals in the region.

Washington turns down the constructive proposal of the leadership of Mujahideen who say that the Mujahideen, as a part of their policy, will ensure that the next government of the Mujaheddin will not meddle in the internal affairs of other countries including the neighbors if the foreign troops pull out of Afghanistan. But still America and its Allies want to achieve their imperialistic goals under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

However, the word of terrorism is still not exactly defined. Who are the terrorists? Those who defend their country, faith, values and natural rights or those who throw deci-cutter bombs and fire Hellfire missile at wedding, funeral ceremonies and rallies.

Thousands of innocent Afghans have been killed in Nangarhar, Urozgan, Hirat, Fara, Kunduz and Paktya provinces as a result of American and NATO blind bombardment. Had they any role whatsoever in the 9/11 event? No. Of course, no.

The criminal aspect of this war is that, that the invading Americans have focused on Pashtun areas and their conduct of the war seem more like a Pashtun cleansing campaign. Still more, the word terrorism has not been defined as yet.

Or the Mujahideen who want freedom of their country terrorists or those who raid people’s house in the stillness of the night and detain innocent people, put them behind the bars and deprive them of their rights to have access to advocates and legal advisers? There are thousands of innocent Afghan prisoners who have, for years , been suffering in jails run by the Americans without knowing their fate.

On the one hand, the White House National Security Adviser James Jones admits that majority of non-Afghan Mujahideen have departed Afghanistan but simultaneously, they send more troops to Afghanistan. Against whom these troops are being deployed? Are not they deployed against the Afghans who want freedom of their country and a government based on their aspirations and religious values? Is this terrorism or natural rights of the Afghans? There are hundreds of questions in this notorious so-call war on terrorism!

Those with free conscience living any where in the world should come forward and defend their shared values of humanity which are being violated by an imperialist power insatiably extending its tentacles over countries of the world particularly over Asia.

Taliban warns Seoul against troop deployment

The Taliban has warned Seoul against sending troops to Afghanistan, claiming that the South Korean government had promised not to deploy soldiers to the country.

South Korea had around 200 soldiers in Afghanistan until late 2007. The Southeast Asian country pulled out its troops after Taliban kidnapped 21 Korean missionaries in 2007.

In a statement sent to the media on Wednesday, Taliban said the South Korean government had promised to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan and had said that it "would never try to send forces again in the future," in return for the release of 19 hostages.

"If they send their forces to Afghanistan and break their promise, then they should also be prepared for bad consequences," the statement said, adding that the Taliban "will never resort to a soft approach anymore."

South Korea announced Tuesday it will send 350 troops to Afghanistan to protect South Korean civilian engineers working in the war-battered country.

The South Korean contingent will be based in the Parwan province just north of Kabul for 30 months from 1 of July next year, the South Korean Defense Ministry said.

A cabinet meeting Tuesday approved the deployment and the defense ministry plans to send a motion this week to parliament for likely approval.

Who Is Responsible for the Anarchy in Afghanistan?

A Message From The Taliban

Who Is Responsible for the Anarchy in Afghanistan?

By Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

December 06, 2009 "Information Clearing House" -- Dec, 04, 2009 -- Obama’s new strategy which is the result of the same mentality that wants to continue the occupation of Afghanistan by military means, will add to the anarchy prevailing in the country. In fact, Americans are responsible for the chaotic situation. They handed over power to notorious warlords, venal officials and mafia-linked governors;

But still, they claim that they want a clean government in Kabul while their convoys of logistics are escorted by some murderous militias involved in kidnapping and extortion of arbitrary taxes. There are hundreds of private unregistered militias in Afghanistan under the name of security guards who carry heroin in official vehicles. These militias have links with warlords who have hold over high government positions. They carry out their criminal activities with impunity.

The warlords usurp government and people’s lands and buildings. No one can ask them why. A government land in Shirpur, located to the north-east of the Kabul city is a good example on hand. Once a property of the Ministry of Defense, now it is a posh area usurped by the warlords who have built luxurious houses there. Karzai himself has granted 6000-7000 acres of lands to his favorites. Many drug-smugglers who had been sentenced to prison by court have been released by decrees of the President.

General Khudaidad, Minister of the Narcotic Campaign of the Kabul Administration has acknowledged in a press conference that US military officers had hands in drug trafficking. Abdul Jabbar Sabit, former attorney-general of the Kabul Administration, says he was not able to lay his hand on some notorious governors involved in drug-trafficking and bribery because they were protected by high-ups in the government. Ultimately, Abdul Jabar Sabit was forced to resign. American Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, many times has referred to Afghanistan as a Mafia State but she did not say that the Mafia State was their handiwork.

Independent analysts around the world believe that USA wants to keep a corrupt government installed in Kabul because this will provide a justification to maintain American military presence in the country. Similarly, on the one hand, the White House Security Advisor James Jones says there are fewer than 100 Al-qaeda members in Afghanistan and on the other hand, Obama sends 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. This high gap between words and deeds shows that America has other colonialist objectives in Afghanistan and in the region, ostensibly under the name of the so-called War on Terror. Furthermore, they claim that they want to resolve the Afghan issue through negotiation and reconciliation; but practically, they want Mujahideen to lay down arms and accept the Constitution conceived and framed by America and want to keep their bases in Afghanistan for a longer period. Thus under the ploy of negotiation, the White House wants to find a pretext to continue their occupation of Afghanistan.

The Afghans, particularly the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, has no agenda of meddling in the internal affairs of other countries and is ready to give legal guarantee if the foreign forces withdraw from Afghanistan. But the Mujahideen are not ready to allow foreign bases in Afghanistan or trade on the independence of the country. Ironically, after American invasion of Afghanistan, the country has been turned into a battle ground of rival intelligence agencies which are linked with the regime in Kabul and have hidden agendas against surrounding countries.

Bomb blasts in public places are the work of these agencies. The more the foreign troops stay in Afghanistan, the more such gruesome events will take place. In the present time, the Mujahideen are the only force which wants to release the Afghans and the country from being hostage in the cobweb of foreign agencies. With the victory of Mujahideen in Afghanistan, the whole region will take a breath of relief and the current bloodshed will come to an end. But it is responsibility of all who have free conscious to morally help Mujahideen to free the region from the vortex of the colonialist machinations.

Statement of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Regarding Obama’s New Strategy

Wednesday, 02 December 2009

The American President Obama has announced his strategy after months of dithering. The essence of the strategy shows that the needs and wants of the American people have been overlooked during the framing of this strategy and it has been formulated under the pressure of (army) generals of Pentagon, the American Neo-conservatives and the wealthiest few of America and for the protection of their interests. Hence it is a strategy of colonialism aimed at securing interests of the American capitalists and it seems America has vast and protracted but wicked and hostile plans not only for Afghanistan but for the whole region.

There is neither a new point in the Obama’s strategy, nor it contains any solution for the Afghan issue. Obama wants to kill two birds with one stone. He wants to lessen the sensitivities of the Afghans about the surge of 30,000 troops through the ploy of ostensibly starting troops withdrawal in 2011. He also intends to decrease the opposition of the American public (to the troops surge) and encourage his Allies at world’s level to send more troops. But this stratagem will not pay off. The reinforcement will result into (their) fatalities. Similarly, the Afghans, the public of the world particularly, the people of America now know the realities and they are not going to be deceived by Obama’s juggling of words.

2. Throughout the history of Afghanistan, the Afghans have not been subjugated through deceits, ploys, materials power, troop’s reinforcement and military might of the foreigners. Therefore, the reinforcement of the American troops and other tactics will not have impact on the status quo. But the reinforcement will provide better opportunity for the Mujahideen to launch offensives. On the other hand, it will deepen the crisis of the American economy which is already in shambles.

3. The Obama’s assertion to increase and train more soldiers and police for the Kabul Administration is pointless and not result-oriented. The Islam-loving and freedom-loving people of Afghanistan consider the Kabul Administration and the forces working under this Administration as corrupt and surrogates of the invaders. Such schemes have already resulted into bringing in losses to the invaders. The Afghans and the public of the world saw that the more they increased the number of troops and sped up training the forces, the more the Mujahideen gained strength and spread their influence into the ranks of the (surrogate) forces. Furthermore, the people’s support with the Mujahideen has increased in parallel.

4. We neither have bases in Pakistan nor we need such bases outside Afghanistan. We have control over vast swathes of land in the country and do not face any problem about our activities and residence.

They raise the issue of our residing in Pakistan in order to distract the attention (of the world) from our capability and strong resistance in Afghanistan.

5. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has frequently said that we have no intention of harming any one. Therefore, the presence of foreign invading forces in Afghanistan has nothing to do with the security of the world. Obama sometimes calls this war, a war of necessity; sometimes he calls it a war for the defense of the West and some times, a war being waged for the security of the world. These are his efforts to mobilize the opinion of the world in favor of this war and encourage other countries to support it in order to justify the unlawful invasion and use other countries for his benefit.

6. The Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate have worked out a vast strategy and prepared for strong resistance to foil the illegal, anti-Islamic and anti-Afghanistan conspiracies of the internal and external Allies and counter them in every part of the country with full strength and put up a protracted resistance. The Mujahideen have high morale and complete readiness and believe that Obama’s new strategy will fail like it did previously. It will face fiasco.

We deem it necessary to remind the American rulers if you persist in your aggressive policy, America will end up being disintegrated itself instead of maintaining the occupation in Afghanistan. The history of the arrogant invaders speaks volume for this fact.

We want to point out that the Muslim people of Afghanistan want to lay down their lives and properties willingly but are never ready to give up their faith and freedom. You have already seen the reaction of the Afghans in the shape of national Islamic upheaval in response to your blind bombardment, brutal torture, operations and frequent reinforcement in the past eight years, you must wait a more severe reaction in the years to come.

Taliban claims French bribery ploy

French troops deployed in Afghanistan are attempting to bribe Taliban fighters not to attack them, a senior Taliban leader has told Al Jazeera.

In an exclusive interview, Saif-Allah Jalili, the Taliban commander of the Kabul district, said on Monday that his men have been offered gifts and money by the French soldiers in order to persuade the fighters not to engage their forces.

"The French in Sorubi [in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan] tried to send gifts to Taliban fighters and offered them a lot of money in return for not launching attacks targeting the French troops," Jalili said.

"But Taliban fighters replied by rejecting everything and by strongly demanding the departure of the French troops and all other troops from our country, which they invaded by force," he said.

The Nato-led International Security Assistance Force [Isaf] has denied Jalili's claims, saying they are Taliban propaganda.

In his interview, Jalili also claimed that local groups being armed by Western forces to confront his fighters were in fact handing over the weapons to the Taliban.

"There are many groups that work for the Taliban and also receive weapons from the foreign troops through the government," he said.

"They are supposed to fight us, but these groups fulfill their promise of loyalty by bringing the weapons to the Taliban," he said.

Message of Felicitation of the Esteemed Amir ul Momineen on the Eve of Eid ul Odha

Mullah Mohammad Omar

November 25, 2009

Message of Felicitation of the Esteemed Amir ul Momineen on the Eve of Eid ul-Adha.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Praise be to Allah Who honored His pledge and granted victory to His servant and exalted His army and lonely defeated all armed confederates. Peace be on the leader of Mujahideen and chief of the Messengers, owner of lofty behavior, our master and prophet, Mohammad and on his descendants and all his companions.

The Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran:

(Such (is his state): and whoever holds in honor the Rites of Allah, (in the sacrifice of animals)

Such (honor) should come truly from Piety of heart.

In them, ye have benefits for a term appointed:

In the end, their place of sacrifice is near the Ancient House." S. 22:32-33

I extend my heartfelt felicitation:

-To all Mujahid people of Afghanistan,

- To the esteemed families of martyrs and prisoners who have been imprisoned by the enemy,

- To the gallant Mujaheddin,

-And to all believing masses of the Islamic Ummah on the occasion of this Eidul Odha.

I pray to Allah (SwT) to always bestow on this Ummah, the blessing of celebration of Eid ul Odha while they are dignified and having independence and grant them happiness, prosperity and success in these blessed days. Likely, I pray to Allah (SwT) to accept the pilgrimage of the pilgrims and accept in His Sight their worship and prayers. I also pray to Him to make this congregation (of Muslims), a factor for the unity of the whole Ummah.

While extending to you my felicitation on the eve of Eid ul Odha, I want to touch on some essential issues as regards the current situation:

1. To The Mujahid Nation:

I thank my Muslim people for their positive response to the Call of the Islamic Emirate (of Afghanistan) and for their foiling the American melodrama by avoiding participation in the American process under the name of elections. I firmly believe, if the Mujahid people remain constant in their multi-sided and honest help (with Mujahideen), the Almighty Allah will expose and thwart all conspiracies of the enemy one after another. It is due to your selfless sacrifices that the arrogant enemy is facing both defeat, jittery and disgrace. I hope you will continue your legitimate Jihad and struggle in the way of realizing your Islamic aspirations; help the sacrificing Mujahideen of the path of freedom and strengthen their ranks with your persons and wealth, particularly, show your protection and empathy with the blessed families of the martyrs and prisoners on the basis of your Islamic responsibility and break off all relations with the stooge Kabul Administration.

Those who have occupied our country and taken our people as hostage, want to use the stratagem of negotiation like they used the drama of elections for some time in order to achieve their colonialist objectives. The invaders do not want negotiation aimed at granting independence to Afghanistan and ending their invasion but they want negotiation which will prolong their evil process of colonization and occupation. However, the people of Afghanistan will not agree to negotiation which prolongs and legitimatizes the invaders military presence in our beloved country. Afghanistan is our home. No one will ever be ready to negotiate with any one else about ownership of one’s home --still more to give share in administration and control of the home and himself ends up becoming homeless, powerless and servant in his own home.

The foreigners have occupied the land of the Afghans by dent of (military) might and savagery. If they want solution of the issue, they should put an end to the occupation of Afghanistan. The invading Americans want Mujahideen to surrender under the pretext of the negotiation. This is some thing impossible. Otherwise, we have noble principles and vast experiences for solution of our internal differences and commencement of good conduct with the people of the world. Therefore, the stand of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan as regards the negotiation emanates from our Islamic and national interests and is based on strong grounds.

2. To the Gallant and Honor-loving Mujahideen of the Front lines!

Your victory over the invading disbelievers is the result of the Divine help. If you seek His pleasure, as a gratitude to the blessing of Allah (SwT), and make the service of common people your objective, Allah (Swt) will bestow on you His ever growing blessing. The enemy will lose their hearts and you will have the honor to defeat the greatest colonialist power of this century. The signs (of this victory) have been appearing, if God willing.

Implement the injunctions of Allah practically and fully; constantly strive for unity among your ranks and keep away from discord and friction. Obey your chiefs in all affairs of Jihad; pay heed to the protection of public and national properties during the conduct of military operations, particularly during martyrdom-seeking operations, focus on the invaders and their lackeys and other important targets. It is the Islamic responsibility of every believing man to avoid causing casualty to common people. There is no justification in Sharia for murder and injury of common people, nor is there any room for such deed in our sacred religion.

The cunning enemy wants to attack people’s congestion places like religious centers, mosques and other similar places in order to malign Mujahideen. They also launch sanguinary attacks under the name of martyrdom-seeking operations to mar the good name of Mujahideen. The Mujahideen should be on guard against these activities of the enemy and fully avoid from carrying out any analogous activity. Well-being and prosperity of people should make your priority. Pay respect to elders and influential among the people and have compassion over the youngsters. Observe true justice when you are authorized to dispense to a deserving person his due right. Implement the Regulation of the Code of Conduct of the Islamic Emirate and observe other principles in order to ensure achievement of ever-increasing advancement in the affairs of Jihad. Make the most of experience, consultation and proven tactics in the military operations and other affairs of Jihad so that you will block the door of differences, complaints and losses. Similarly, take every precaution for the protection of your persons and make efforts in this way. Take care of the rights of those who surrender to you from the enemy side. This process (of surrendering to Mujaheddin) is now continuing.

The (former) communists formed tribal and unscrupulous groups under the name of tribal militia at a time when they were on the verge of defeat. The aim was to provoke internal conflicts, biases, racial differences and resultantly revenge themselves on (our) Mujahid people. The Americans and their allies too want to repeat the same failed experience. I am of the opinion that the recent efforts launched by the enemy will further malign it and will meet its defeat but you should make every effort to foil this last conspiracy of the enemy with the help of your Mujahid people. Mete out an exemplary punishment to those who are leading these mischief-making activities so that the dark and notorious history of the barbaric militias does not recur anew.

3. To the Ruler’s and Employees of the Puppet Administration of Kabul:

Stop oppressing and torturing your miserable Muslim people as a sign of your service and slavery to the non-believing invaders. The foreign invaders are not benefactors of the Afghan people. They are bent on wiping out the belief and holy places of this people and want to bring under their belly all our material wealth. They use the empty slogans of development and reconstruction of Afghanistan for realization of their illegitimate objectives. They have stashed away thousands of millions of dollars in their pockets which they had collected in the name of reconstruction of Afghanistan.

They want to keep our country entangled in a net of usury and interest according to a calculated conspiracy and are determined to subjugate our distinguished people.

I call on you all as I did last time and as per my responsibility, to put an end to your life of humiliation; shun hostility with your people and join the Mujahideen in the strongholds of pride, honor and belief instead of continuing with your present life of debasement. The enemy want to lay his gun over your shoulder and kill your countrymen but you should try, and by utilizing a proper opportunity, should rescue yourself from the fate of the pro-Britain Shah Shuja, pro-Russian Taraki, Amin , Karmal, Najib and their followers. If you honestly part ways with the evil, you will have success in this world and in the world to come.

You should understand that the epoch of dread of the Western colonialism has reached its end. Ground realities in our beloved country indicate that the invaders are about to escape. The caravan of truth is steadily approaching its rationale destination of victory. Mujahideen gain strength with the passage of time as they obtain good experience in political, media, and social fields. The invaders and their stooges’ moribund efforts are tantamount to erecting a mound of sand in front of the turbulent river of the Jihadic movement. These waves of resistance which have been originated from the midst of the honor-loving nation will wash away the torsos of the arrogant invaders, if God willing.

4.To Islamic Conference and the So-called Human Rights Organizations:

I call on the Islamic Conference and all organizations that have been established under the name of human rights protection to take steps for the prevention of civilian casualties caused by the invading forces of America and the coalition and should raise voice for the punishment of the perpetrators of this crime. Similarly, the invading forces under the leadership of America and the surrogate regime of Kabul have erected prisons under different names in all parts of the country in contravention to international principles. A great number of our miserable and innocent countrymen are brutally tortured there. All human rights organizations who claim being advocates of human rights should promptly and as per their responsibility, take steps to prevent occurrence of such brutal acts. Many of our prisoners have been martyred and maimed as a result of harsh conduct and torture in these prisons. If the human rights organizations are not willing to fulfill their responsibility in order to please America and the West, then they should renounce their title of human rights advocacy as a matter of moral obligation.

5. To Scholars, Writers and Men of Letters.

I urge independent scholars, teachers and statesmen to raise the legitimate cause of their miserable people in every hearing and forum and support it. Inform the countrymen and public of the world about the ground realities in Afghanistan through your write-ups and speeches. By waging a Jihad of words and pen, render thanks for the gift of talents bestowed on you by God. I call on all distinguished writers and journalists to play their due role in this critical juncture of our history when our land is under the blatant aggression. They should struggle in the field of media for the obtainment of independence of our Islamic country and a true Islamic system and, as per their responsibility, portray the impeachable facts so that they reach the ears of the public. With the power of belief and an unflinching ardor, make struggle to tell and unveil the truth.

I also urge the committed and sensible poets to preserve the Jihadic epics and acts of heroism of Mujahideen in their poems and literary pieces and generate emotions for independence, honor , national unity and Islamic resurgence. Not only that but further bolster them.

6. To Regional and Neighboring Countries:

Colonialist plans of expansionism of the West are in full swing in the region. The economic assistance, the mercenaries, the overt and covert ploys of the wicked companies have paved the way for (execution of these plans) and have set off hatred, discrimination and rivalries in the region.

In fact, this is an act against the humane values, justice, peace, rules of interstate relations and independence. If the regional countries still remain neutral versus the colonialist interventions of America and the vast military presence, the whole regional will be gripped by instability; the process of development will hamper and ultimately (the region) will become powerless.

We emphatically say that the strong determination and unwavering resistance (of Mujahideen) has eroded the capability of the enemy; has wiped out (their) shock and awe era and frustrated their wicked plans. Therefore, as a sign of gratitude for the sacrifices offered by our oppressed people, you should assist us in the cause of freedom of our country. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan wants to take constructive measure together with all countries for mutual cooperation, economic development and good future on the basis of mutual respect.

We consider the whole region as a common home against colonialism and, as a responsible force, want to play our role in stability and peace of the region in future.

7. To the Rulers of the White House and the Belligerent Americans:

The ground realities in Afghanistan indicate, the Americans and other allied invaders will certainly face a route --this is a defeat which can’t be averted by reinforcement and formulation of successive irrational strategies. You should understand that coercion and militarism has lost its splendor. You will not be able to subjugate the brave Afghan people with the power of your military might or the mantra of your devilish ploys.

The people, whom you have chosen for confrontation, have the honor of dismantling the arrogant empires. They have good capability and historical experience. Our believing people will not allow the Western colonialism to make our country a hotbed against our independence and vital values and aggressive designs against regional countries. These are the people who before you, have wiped out two empires – the British and Russians empires-- from the map of the world. They are holding the stronghold of honor and Jihad with strong determination and high morale against the demoralized and moribund troops. And on the basis of their belief, they are sure that they will gain victory and you will face defeat.

It is better for you to choose the path of rationale instead of militarism and put an end to the occupation of Afghanistan. You should understand your belligerent and aggressive policy will create for you so many enemies in the world which would make for you this world a bed of thorns. It will make your life harsh because the policy of coercion and tyranny is intolerable to all.

8. To the Public of Europe Particularly To the Freedom-loving People of the West:

Your colonialist rulers have invaded our country under the pretext of terrorism to augment the wealth of a few capitalists and spread the net of neo-colonialism over our country.

Every day, our youths, old men, women and children are martyred by your bombs and rounds of mortars. The invaders raid houses of our people at night. They destroy our green gardens, public properties, educational and commercial centers.

Countering this atrocity and aggression and the defense against it, is our legitimate and national right. We will use this right of ours with all our resources and sacrifices.

You should not fall prey to the misleading assertions of your colonialist rulers as they call this war, a war of necessity. This is a farce weapon in the hands of your rulers under the colonialist pretext of fight against terrorism. Thus they want to throw dust into the eyes of people. It is the demand of your conscience and moral duty to raise your voice for the prevention of this savagery.

We only want establishment of an Islamic system in our country which will protect rights of all individuals of this nation both men and women—a system depending on its own feet, fully independent, its internal and external policy being based on this Islamic principle: not harming others and not allowing others to harm us.

Fight against terrorism is an unjustified colonialist term fabricated by Pentagon and Washington. They want to colonize independent countries by using this proposition and bring under their belly natural riches and economic resources of these countries and trample on belief and religious traditions of these countries.

9. To the Islamic Ummah:

I remind Muslim brothers in every part of the world, of the words of Hazarat Omar Farouq (May Allah be pleased with him), the Great Caliph of Islam who said: "We are people whom Allah exalted by Islam. If we still seek exaltation in things other than Islam, Allah will humiliate us."

I advise you to fully abide by the sacred rules of Islam in order to achieve the magnanimity and grandeur of Islam. Help (your) oppressed Muslim brothers and use your wisdom, sagacity and sobriety in the cause of Jihad and confrontation with the tyrant aggressors, particularly, the chiefs of the Jihadic movements should ponder over all aspects during performance of affairs of Jihad; avoid disunity and splintering among your ranks and be heedful to the conspiracies being engineered to malign Mujahideen.

Avoid from deeds that cause great losses to Islam and Muslims instead of bringing in benefits to the Muslims. Focus your efforts on beating the invading, usurping enemy; do not engage in purposeless activities, rather turn your attention to the main objective.

All Muslims should remember in their prayers, the Mujaheddin-- the protectors of Islam and Islamic Ummah-- and extend them moral and Islamic support and should defend their cause as a legitimate Islamic cause. The Americans and its allies have been hammering out plans overtly and covertly to destabilize the Islamic world and provoke differences in the Islamic countries. Every Muslim should realize his/her arch enemy and be on guard against the conspiracies of the enemies.

To end, I remind all my Muslim brothers of this Divine verse (bearing) good news (of victory):

"Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of Bliss)

Without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you?

They encountered suffering and adversity,

And were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger

And those of faith who were with him Cried:

"When (will come) the help of Allah"

Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!"

Press release of Mullah Bradar Akhand, representative of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, about the new strategy implemented by Obama

Afghan Resistance Statement
Press release of Mullah Bradar Akhand, representative of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, about the new strategy implemented by Obama
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

Dhu al-Qi'dah 11, 1430 A.H, October 30, 2009

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

After long waiting of one month and dithering about American reinforcement in Afghanistan, it has been unveiled by Carl Levin, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the US Senate that Obama wants to get a by-law passed through this committee that would allow giving money and other financial aids to some members of Taliban in order to encourage them part way with the current armed resistance.

We would like to tell Obama that this is an old weapon that has failed already. The British invaders used it in the 19th century but failed; the former Soviet Union used it, it failed too. The Afghan Mujahid people and the Mujahideen at the front lines have vast experiences of the past three decades in this regard and know all tactics used by the enemy.

Seeing that you failed to win the war with the help of your cutting-edge and sophisticated technology; considering that your media failed to make any ground; bearing in mind that your allies are seeking ways to leave the field and that your internal gunmen are not able even to defend themselves; realizing that your newly-formulated policies face failure one after another, then how you would be able to gain success by resorting to this devilish tactic while our people are already aware of the essence of such tactic.

Similarly, considering this decision as a sign of weakness and complete despondency of the enemy, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announces the following points for the moribund rulers of the While House:

1. All Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan have been waging Jihad against the Americans and other invaders on the basis of an obligation of their belief and ideas. The terms of moderate (Taliban) and extremists are American-invented terms, which have no physical existence.

2. The Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan are not mercenaries and employed gunmen like the armed men of the invaders and their surrogates. Contrarily, the Mujahideen have been carrying out this Jihad for obtainment of independence of the country and establishment of a Sharia system there. This war will come to an end when all invaders leave our country and an Islamic government based on the aspirations of our people is formed in the country.

3. We remind Obama and all rulers of the White House to avoid wasting your time on ways which are not pragmatic but focus on ways, which provide a down-to-earth and realistic solution to this issue. Pull all your forces out of our prideful country and put an end to the game of colonialization by shedding the blood of innocent Muslim people under the unjustified name of terrorism.

4. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan warns the rulers of the White House that the huge military expenditure that you shoulder to maintain your military presence in Afghanistan and carry out operations and implement other failed strategies will only deepen your economic crisis and will harm your international reputation. Your people will face more problems and suffer from psychological diseases. You should know that the Afghans laugh at your irrational decision and unpractical strategies.

5. The American rulers should not think that all heroic Afghan nation is like the few well-known Afghan Americans who sell their country and who have received training in the CIA cells for many years. Here in this country, selling one’s country quid pro qu money and government slot is not only a crime according to Islam but also a historical taunt and infamy. Traditionally, it is a shameful act, which is unforgivable. If you do not believe this, then have a glance at the history of Shah Shuja and Babrak Karmal and his cronies, the surrogates of the former Soviet Union. Study what status they had in the eye of the Afghan masses. The Afghans, particularly, the Mujahideen do not want to solve their economic problems of daily life with the donations and other material aids of the intelligence networks of colonialism.

This pious and patriotic people have offered tremendous material and soul sacrifices in the way of their sacred objectives. The Mujahideen have not chosen this path of strife between the truth and the evil to obtain some material goals. They have lofty Islamic and nationalist aims. This war will only end when these goals are achieved. Inshaallah.

Americans, in the Face of the Afghans Sensitivities

Afghan Resistance Statement
Emotion to Americans In Face of the Tide of the Afghans' Sensitivities
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

November 20, 2009

Nicolas Christopher, a well-known columnist of the New York Times has expressed his concern about the surge of 40,000 troops to Afghanistan. He showed his dismay in his Column in New York Times on October 22. According to him, the troops increase will provoke reaction from the Afghans which will lead to creating more sensitivities among the Afghan movements.

He argues that in the past, the presence of foreign troops in America provoked resentments of our forefathers, considering them as invaders. They were never ready to accept them as protectors of people. He adds, then the Britain could not perceive the scope of the resentments of our forefathers, nor they understood that we were the real owners of the land. The more the Britain resorted to oppressing us, the more our resistance increased. This is an experience that provides for us a good lesson about the sensitivities of other people regarding foreign forces.

Nicolas Christopher says, we fought in Afghanistan twice more than the time we spent fighting in World War II. Our expenditure now reaches $60 billion per year. But still we have not understood the essence of the current resistance, nor have we paid heed to the patriotic feelings of the Afghans in our calculations.

If we presume that reinforcement of 40,000 soldiers, at least requires $ 10 billion annually, then we can say, it is enough to provide expenditure of kindergarten of two million American children. In the long run, what is in our interest, the money to be spent for the well-being in America or just send our youths to war in Afghanistan which is not worth fighting.

Christopher believes, Afghanistan will never become a brilliant democracy.

The opinion expressed by the American writer indicates that there are still Americans who know the depth of the Afghan issue and the sensitivities of the Afghans as regards the Americans and America. This is in a time the American troops are bent on using their total might against the Afghans and ironically, the massacring of mankind now has become part and parcel of their character.

Why the Americans are not ready to call their military presence in Afghanistan as invasion and occupation of the country while they themselves called the British military presence in America as invasion?

Like Christopher, the Afghans too ask why we should consider the Americans and Western forces as our protectors whereas they murder our children, women and old men and why should not call them as invaders?

This is an open secret that the Afghans are highly sensitive to the American troops and they hate them more than they hated the Russian’s. The 68,000 American brutal troops are cutting the throat of our freedom with a blunt knife and they have unleashed bloodshed in the country. If they increase the number of their troops, say, if they send the requested 40,000 troops, it will prove that the Americans want to permanently stay in Afghanistan. It will mean that they have come to Afghanistan to occupy it for ever and this will strengthen the tides of resistance against the invaders. Those Afghans who do not know the realities in our country and have been deceived by the daydreams of reconstructions and financial grants will realize to bolster the ranks of the wayfarers of the way of Jihad. They will become like a popular stronghold of steel against the cunning invading troops.

This is obvious that the people who have common faith and ideology and grown up on the same soil, will not accept the presence of foreigners on the basis of their natural traditions. The history speaks for the sacrifices offered by them and the war fought by them in the cause of freedom.

It will not be possible that the invaders occupy their land under any pretext and ploy and ostensibly extend them a hand of friendship.

Expectedly, the invading troops must wait a strong reaction of the people--a country-wide upheaval-- which will send jittery into the enemy ranks and they will not be able to find an outlet to escape. Every son of this land of the Mujahideen will revive the epics and adventures of their Mujahid forefathers. They will take up their traditional arms and swords and fall on the retreating enemy to take the revenge.

The Help of Allah (SwT)

Afghan Resistance Statement
The Help of Allah (SwT)
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

November 17, 2009

The current Jihad against the American occupation of Afghanistan proves that oppressed Muslim people can, with the help of Allah, overcome the most advanced and huge army of the world. Look at the facts and figures. There are 40,000 troops from 43 countries of the world, both NATO members and others. America has 68,000 soldiers in Afghanistan.

The puppet regime of Kabul has 80,000 police force and almost the same number army. In addition to this, Pentagon has formed tens of thousands of local militias and armed former warlords who escort their logistical convoys from one province to another and launch joint operations. All these fight against a minuscule number of Mujahideen. But they have failed to prevent the Mujaheddin's constant victories who now control 80% of Afghanistan soil. No doubt, this is a sign of the help of Allah (SwT) as indicated in the Holy Quran that a small band of people who stand by truth can defeat a large force of evils. We should also bear in mind that the police force, the army and the intelligence agencies of the neighboring countries and of the world are at the disposal of the American invaders who help them with all their might.

Initially, the enemy being arrogant and banking on its military arsenal thought that it would easily wipe out the Mujahideen and spread its tentacles over the world. By cashing in on the opportunity provided by the 9/11, the British neo-colonialists jumped to the field. They had planned that they would work as brain because of their past experience and America as arm in this new adventure to colonize Middle East, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. They knew there was no other super power in the world except America and this had created an opening which they wanted to use for their own benefit by implementing their global expansionist goals.

Under the empty slogans of democracy and fight against terrorism, they killed hundreds of thousand of innocent Muslim people in Afghanistan and Iraq. They committed the most blatant human rights violations in Bagram, Kandahar, Abu Gharib and Guantanamo jails. Many detainees who later proved to be innocent common people were tortured by CIA and its hired private interrogators. Even some of them were kept in unknown CIA cells in foreign countries which were notoriously reputed for human rights violations. The detainees were forced to stand naked for hours; they were beaten and water boarded. Even American soldiers desecrated holy literature including the Holy Quran. Those released say, such blasphemous incidents occurred in Kandahar airport and Guantanamo jails.

But all these wrongdoing and injustice could neither wipe out the resistance nor suffocate them. Contrarily, these atrocities created new enemies for the invaders and bolstered the spirit of resistance among people.

Recently, they are resorting to some other devilish tactics, like detonating bombs and mines in congested places where common people are shopping. This is a heinous effort by CIA-related agencies like Blackwater in order to create hatred among the common people against Mujahideen. Blackwater was renamed Xe after its flagrant human rights violations in Iraq. Now it is killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan and neighboring countries through mysterious bomb explosions. In Iraq, these foreign agencies destroyed Mosques and Shiite shrines in order to flare up sectarian violence. Some times, they succeeded in their wicked aims. In addition to this, they destroy bridges, schools and then accuse Mujahideen of doing that.

The occupying troops as partners of the intelligence agencies turn schools into military outposts to provoke Mujahideen to attack them. Then they show on TV that the Mujaheddin have destroyed the schools and that they are against knowledge and education. However, it is a crime in the first place to use educational facilities like school buildings for military purposes. When the enemy turns clinics and schools into security outposts and open fire on Mujahideen from these places, they no more remain school buildings but automatically become military targets.

The Mujahideen Regulation about the code of conduct strictly requires them to avoid damaging public properties like schools and other common facilities. According to this Regulation, the first aim of Jihad is to ensure sovereignty and safety of honor, property and life of common people. However, these facts are not reported in the media because they report what the colonialists and the invaders want them to do. When we want to unveil the truth and reach our voice to the public of the world, the so-called protectors of democracy and freedom of speech block our websites and spread lies against us. The world should know what the so-called protectors of human rights are doing is not democracy but terrorism under the guise of civilization. They efface the values that the humanity has achieved after a long struggle.

The Aims of Mujahideen

Afghan Resistance Statement
The Aims of Mujahideen
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

November 14, 2009

As an Islamic liberation force, the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate represent aspirations of the Afghan masses who want to free themselves from the claws of colonialism. This is the only force, the people look to for realization of their noble aims.

Therefore, to live up to the expectation of the people, the Mujahideen’s objectives are clear. They want to establish an Islamic system based on justice and equality and gain independence of the country where the Afghans will be owners of their own country and fate. Education, spiritual and material uplift and reconstructions are other aims of the Islamic Emirate. It has declared time and again that it will implement these goals upon gaining independence. However, the intelligence agencies of the invading countries and the biased media are trying to mar the good name of Mujahideen. Under the notorious name of terrorism, they want to create hatred among the people against the true sons of this land (Afghanistan). Even some time, these agencies resort to perpetrating gruesome crimes like explosions in congested places where hundreds of innocent people lose their lives. Some time, they flare up sectarian violence as per the old divide and rule formula of colonialism. Then, they accuse Mujahideen of being involved these crimes. The Mujahideen are free from all such charges. No Mujahid will ever want to kill an innocent Muslim or Muslima.

But the biased media constantly publish the official story and the people under the influence of the partial reports are confused and some time, misjudge the events because they do not know to tell facts from lies. On the other hand, the mainstream media do not publish the stand of Mujahideen regarding every event, fearing the invading Americans will accuse them of helping the so-called terrorists. In fact, the world has now been taken hostage by the media suffocation unleashed by the colonialism.

Pentagon has a psychological war department. This department is charged with spreading lies against Mujahideen. They spend millions of dollars to make it possible that the lies fabricated in Pentagon reach every ear in the world. They pay high sum of money to journalists who is ready to publish maligning stories against Mujahideen. According to a media report, a CIA cell in one of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan pay a journalist $1000 for a story against Mujahideen. They put on air dramas aimed at marring the image of Mujahideen. Ironically, the colonialists have taken this war from the battle fields to the fields of media, labor unions, business circles and scholar forums. So they should be confronted in all these fields.

Those journalists who are committed to human dignity, liberation, and justice should form Mujahideen Support Groups and wage an unwavering and constant campaign against the black propaganda launched by the colonialists because in the final analysis, this is not the war of Taliban. This is the war of all freedom-loving and justice-loving people all over the world who want to live as free people without the sword of colonialism hanging over their heads in this 21st century.

Taliban Establish Rival Government in Nuristan

After US Pullout, Taliban Appoints Officials
Jason Ditz

November 13, 2009

In a sign that the Taliban’s de facto control over the Nuristan Province is becoming more and more formal, one of the commanders of the group’s forces in the province says the Taliban is setting up a rival government.

According to Dost Mohammed, the commander in question, the group has established its own judiciary and is appointing administrative officials, and it setting about to provide basic needs to the remote province’s residents.

The US abandoned Nuristan more or less in its entirety after an early October attack against its last two outposts in the province left eight soldiers killed. Officials maintained that they were planning to abandon the outposts anyhow.

But when the US left the outposts, they also ended virtually their entire presence in the province, with only a handful of soldiers left behind to protect the provincial governor. If the Taliban’s government gains traction, the governor may quickly become irrelevant.

Helmand, still the same as before

Afghan Resistance Statement
Helmand, still the same as before
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

This year, the Helmand, a province located in the south of Afghanistan, became target of gruesome attacks of the British and American invaders. American troops sent to Afghanistan as per the new strategy of Obama were deployed in this province as a part of an effort by the American rulers to bolster the sagging morale of the despondent British soldiers there.

Before launching the offensive against Mujahideen in Helmand province, American media started their own media war. They called the operation, the largest military operations ever launched by US marines after the Vietnam War and claimed that it would wipe out all Mujahideen in the area under a take, hold and build strategy. Various helicopters and fighter planes swarmed to Helmand, including military tanks, armed personnel carriers, Humvees heading to some districts like Khan shin, Nad Ali, Garam Sir, Gereshk and to surrounding areas of Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.

According to a tactical plan worked out by Mujahideen, they (Mujahideen) retreated from certain areas to encourage the enemy forces enter these areas where they were soft targets for the Mujahideen. When the enemy soldiers scattered in the far-flung areas, they were trapped, increasing their casualties with each passing day. Simultaneously, the tempo of the Western media fanfare about this campaign tapered down because they were not ready to report the high fatality that their soldiers were suffering at the hand of the Mujahideen every day. To many, it may be still a mystery that why the western media is tightlipped about the Helmand. However, the British and American soldiers based in Helmand know the answer to this question who see their daily casualties with their own eyes.

In north of Helmand, all the districts, which were in the hands of Mujahideen before the beginning of the operations, are still in their hands. In the south where the operations were concentrated, the writ of Mujahideen has been restored in Khanshin, Marji and Garam Sir districts. The enemy was able to build a military base in a desert there but now they are not able to procure their logistics through lands routes. They have to depend solely on air transportations for logistical items. In Nad Ali, they were forced to evacuate the base, which they had formed at the start of the offensive. In Garam Sir, they are trying to beef up their former bases. No new base has been built there.

The British soldiers occupied some areas in Babaji, Pashak and the White Mosque but they were not able to retain them for long time in face of the constant attacks by the Mujahideen. So they withdrew from all these areas. The main problem of the enemy is logistical supply. When their tanks and logistical vehicles come out of their military bases for patrol and logistical supplies, they become easy targets for Mujahideen. On the other hand, the roadside bombs take a high toll of the enemy, making roads a graveyard for them. Therefore, they use transportation planes for the supply of logistics instead of using the land routes.

In short, in Helmand, the new strategy of the American top general in Afghanistan, Mc Crystal has faced a complete failure. The operations Sword and Panther’s Claw did not achieve what the invaders wanted to achieve.

The defeat of the invading foreign forces proves that the military approach chosen by the invaders as a strategy is not paying off. They will have to ponder over other options like withdrawal from Afghanistan and granting the Afghans their natural rights of independence and formation of an Islamic government of their choice. Otherwise, their economy and society will bleed like the former Soviet Union which disintegrated after occupying Afghanistan for ten years.

A Glance At the American Elections Drama

Afghan Resistance Statement
A Glance At the American Elections Drama
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

November 9, 2009

On November, the 2nd, the first episode of the American colonialist drama ended which had started two months ago on August 20. For the last four years, the American rulers have been blaming Hamid Karzai for the constant failures in the country.

They allege that corruption is rampant in government offices, the people are alienated and Hamid Karzai including his immediate relatives have secret links with drug traffickers. As evidence, they constantly refer to the releasing of some well-known heroin smugglers by Hamid Karzai from prison. Contrarily, Hamid Karzid accuse them of disbursing their financial assistance to Afghanistan through the channels of foreign NGOs which are involved in embezzlement and corruption, spending only 20% of the assistance in Afghanistan and putting the rest 80% in their own pockets. While their bickering continued, the American rulers brought forward a new pawn by the name of Abdullah who agreed to all legitimate and illegitimate wants of Washington.

The People Boycott Elections:

People positively responded to the statement of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, calling for boycott with the election. Seeing that only a minuscule numbers of voters turned out on the day of polling, the followers of Karzai and Dr. Abdullah in northern and southern Afghanistan resorted to stuffing the empty boxes with fraudulent ballots. The Election Complaint Commission received 2800 complaints about frauds and rigging in votes. American rulers with the complicity of the United Nations jointly handed over the complaints to the Complaint Commission which was headed by a foreigner and its foreign members outnumbered the Afghan members. Even one Afghan member of the commission stepped down, accusing the foreigners of taking every thing in their own hands and taking decisions on themselves without consultations with their Afghan counterparts.

After the passage of two months, the Complaint Commission invalidated 30% of H. Karazai votes, pushing him below the 50% threshold. Doing this, they gave Hamid Karzai a message that they knew tactics, which will strip him of power or induct him through legal means. As another instrument of pressure on Karzai and the Afghan people, the Americans suspended payment of all ongoing projects and stopped launching new.

Meanwhile, American Democrat Senator and Chairman of the Foreign Relation Committee, John Kerry visited Kabul to find out whether Karzai was ready to accept all American demands or he still was in the bickering mode. After a few days of hot discussion, pressures and telephonic calls from the White House, Karzai unconditionally accepted all American demands and the Americans announced that a run-off would be held. This was a political ploy to legitimize Karzai victory.

John Kerry applauded Karzai for being a sagacious statesman, whereas Hillary Clinton said that Abdullah’s pull-out of the second round of elections would not leave negative impact on the legality of the elections. The Independent Election Commission with the consultation and instruction from the American rulers declared Karzai as next president of Afghanistan. Ironically, now the same H. Karzai who was a little before responsible for all corruption and heroin trafficking, was legitimate president after bowing to the American demands. The American and British rulers immediately congratulated him on his victory and the UN General Secretary, visiting Kabul, congratulated Karzai to further rubberstamp his victory.

Veracity of the stance of the Islamic Emirate:

Our people surely remember that the Islamic Emirate always maintained that the real decision about the results of elections is made in Washington. The elections are held in order to throw dust in the eyes of people and hide their colonialist agenda under the clout of elections. They want to keep the common people occupied in the election drama to distract their attention from the civilian casualties caused by the blind bombardment of the invaders, poverty, unemployment and corruption. This is to ensure that people are not able to form a common front against these atrocities. Our people are aware that Americans as per their habit left Dr. Abdulla, in the lurch after using him against Hamid Karzai to domesticate the latter.

They had given him fleshy promises at the outset but then left him in the middle. Still, the White House rulers will keep him as a spare in order to use him time and again for taming Karzai. No doubt, they will always install the one who dances well to the tune of the Americans.

Islamic Emirate as a Force of the People:

Events in our country in the last two months showed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is both a military and a public force. It is a public force because people positively responded to the call of the Islamic Emirate for boycott with the elections and stood by it and it is a military force because all the American, NATO and the stooge regime military and police force could not prevent the Mujahideen from carrying out attacks on the polling day, on August 20. The Mujahideen made 200 attacks throughout the country on that day, paralyzing the whole elections process.

Observers believe, the military strength displayed by the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate on the polling day of the run-off elections faced the Americans with frustrations while the audacious martyrdom- seeking attack on UNAMA guesthouse in Kabul played out their last strength to hold the runoff.

Conclusion:

These events show that the Islamic Emirate is an undeniable reality. The last eight years have proved that no one could obliterate this reality by dint of military force, political maneuvering and propaganda campaigns. The invaders should understand to admit this reality today rather than admitting it tomorrow. They should let the Afghans to start a new life under the shade of a just Islamic system in an independent country. The colonialist’s ambitious dreams of colonizing of the 18th and 19th centuries are not feasible in this 21st century. The people are awake now. They know that it is their natural right to have freedom and a government of their choice. The colonialists should willingly grant them this right; otherwise, they will surely grab the right from them.

Afghan Insurgents Learn To Destroy Key U.S. Armored Vehicle

Taliban-led insurgents in Afghanistan have devised ways to cripple and even destroy the expensive armored vehicles that offer U.S. forces the best protection against roadside bombs by using increasingly large explosive charges and rocket-propelled grenades, according to U.S. soldiers and defense officials.

At least eight American troops have been killed this year in attacks on so-called Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected vehicles, or MRAPs, and 40 more have been wounded, said a senior U.S. military official who, like others interviewed on the issue, declined to be further identified because of the issue's sensitivity.

The insurgents' success in attacking the hulking machines, which can cost as much as $1 million each, underscores their ability to counter the advanced hardware that the U.S. military and its allies are deploying in their struggle to gain the upper hand in the war, which entered its ninth year last month.

The attacks also raise questions about how vulnerable a new, lighter MRAP, the M-ATV, which is now being shipped to Afghanistan, are to the massive explosive charges that Taliban-led insurgents have been using against its bigger cousin.

The insurgents are also hitting MRAPs with rocket-propelled grenades that can penetrate their steel armor, according to U.S troops in Afghanistan, several of whom showed McClatchy a photograph of a hole that one of the projectiles had punched in the hull of an MRAP.

The Pentagon has spent more than $26.8 billion to develop and build three versions of the largest MRAPs, totaling some 16,000 vehicles, mostly for the Army and Marine Corps, according to an August report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.

Another $5.4 billion is being spent to produce 5,244 M-ATVs, the smaller version that U.S. defense officials contend offers as much protection as the large models do, but is more maneuverable and better suited to Afghanistan's dirt tracks and narrow mountain roads.

"The traditional MRAP was having real problems ... off road in Afghanistan," said Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell. "And clearly we have to do a lot of work off-road. And these new vehicles will provide our forces the ability to travel more safely off road - certainly off paved roads - than they would have been able to do with other vehicles."

Defense officials acknowledged the growing problem of successful attacks on MRAPs, and said the U.S. military is constantly developing improvements for the vehicle that include better sensors and tactics.

"It's not all about the armor. We can't build something that is impervious to everything," said Navy Capt. Jack Henzlik, a spokesman for the U.S. Central Command, which oversees operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. "We are using a comprehensive strategy to try to provide for the protection of our forces."

The issue was the subject of a high-level meeting convened on Wednesday by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who made the production of MRAPs his highest priority in 2007 as U.S. troops in Iraq were suffering massive casualties from roadside bomb attacks.

The use of powerful explosive charges against MRAPs "is a problem that he (Gates) is keenly aware of, very concerned about, and is determined to make sure this building is doing everything it can to combat," said Morrell. "We have never advertised MRAPs or M-ATVs as a silver bullet for the IED (improvised explosive device) problem. This is but one element of a vast array of capabilities that we need to bring to bear to protect our forces."

However, retired Army Col. Douglas A. MacGregor, a former armored cavalry commander and combat veteran and an expert on armor warfare, said that vehicles such as the MRAP have "very limited utility" in a war against a guerrilla group such as the Taliban.

"The notion of a wheeled armored constabulary force as a prescription for a close combat situation is nonsense," he said.

U.S. troops rely on the MRAP's V-shaped hull, which is designed to deflect explosive blasts, and heavy armored plating to protect them against the landmines and IEDs that are causing most American combat deaths in Afghanistan.

October was the deadliest month for U.S. troops since the 2001 U.S. invasion. At least 59 were killed, bringing the total for the year to at least 272 dead, according to the Internet site iCasualties. At least 139 of those troops died in IED blasts, according to the Pentagon.

"Pentagon officials note that insurgents are building larger IEDs and are finding better ways to conceal them," said the Congressional Research Service report.

"The biggest question is what took them so long," said a senior Pentagon official with extensive experience with the MRAP program and familiarity with the weapons and techniques that the militants in Afghanistan have developed to "compromise" the vehicle.

The fact that the large MRAPs - which range from 7 tons to 24 tons depending on the model - often are confined to narrow mountain roads and valleys in Afghanistan has made it easier for insurgents to prepare ambushes using anti-tank mines, IEDs or rocket-propelled grenades capable of penetrating armor, said the official.

U.S. defense officials insisted that many more U.S. troops would be killed and injured in Afghanistan and in Iraq if they'd been equipped with vehicles other than MRAPs.

"KIA (killed in action) rates in particular are noticeably reduced in MRAPs," said Irene Smith, a spokeswoman for the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization, the Pentagon agency created to develop defenses against roadside bombs.

U.S. defense officials in Washington, D.C., and Kabul declined to reveal the number of MRAPs that have been crippled or destroyed since the first vehicles were deployed in Afghanistan in 2003, saying they didn't want to provide the Taliban with information on the effectiveness of their tactics.

McClatchy is voluntarily withholding some U.S. soldiers' descriptions of insurgent tactics out of concern that they may not be known by all of those fighting U.S.-led forces.

The soldiers spoke out of what they said was a heightened concern about the vehicles' vulnerability to ambushes, especially on mountain roads where there's no room for the vehicles to turn around.
